make/agents/work is a podcast about agents doing useful work in real businesses. Each episode we sit down with someone who's built something that's actually doing the job, look at how they did it, and come back the following week to talk about what the rest of us could do with the same idea.
Neither of us is a trained developer, which is rather the point. We're interested in what people who can't really write code are still managing to build.
The audience is leaders and operators trying to work out what to actually do about AI in their own businesses, and who want to get their hands dirty experimenting and building things themselves. Most are short on time or hit a wall the moment things get super technical - and they're tired of slick demos that fall apart on contact with real work.
Around 30-45 minutes, recorded remotely on Riverside (in your browser, nothing to install). We want to understand what you built, what's in your stack, what you tried that didn't work, what it actually does day to day, and what you'd do differently if you were starting today.
A few days before we record, we'll send a short prep doc with the things we'd like to cover. You don't need slides or polished demos. It would be great to take a look under the hood if you can, but it doesn't need to be super polished - the more in touch with reality the better.
The episode that follows your interview is just the two of us. You don't need to come back for it.
We talk through what we took from the conversation and try to apply some of what we heard in our own work. We'll pull out moments and ideas from the interview, but we won't put words in your mouth.
The full conversation goes out as a video on YouTube. The audio runs as a podcast across Apple and Spotify. We also cut a handful of short clips for LinkedIn and other social, and write a short Substack note pulling out the practical takeaways.
You get all of it. The clips and the write-up are yours to share if you want them.
This is a brand new show. We'll build on Ollie's existing audience of 15,000+ across LinkedIn and Substack, plus the networks we've each built up over the years - across AI, business, and the future of work.
Hosts the Ollie on Work podcast (250+ episodes featuring Daniel Pink, Rory Sutherland and Tyler Cowen, among others) and is the author of the bestselling Work/Life Flywheel, shortlisted for Business Book Awards 2024. Writes weekly on AI, leadership and the future of work to a combined audience of 15,000+ across LinkedIn and Substack.
Spent 15+ years at Google, leading large product development teams, most recently as a Group Product Manager in Gemini Enterprise, focused on enabling the agentic ecosystem for customers. Previously founded and grew a large lean startup community in Zurich, and is now moving into angel investing and scale-ups.
No slides, no demos to set up in advance, no product pitches, no questions designed to catch you out. We're not interviewing you for a job. We're trying to understand what you built and how you got there.
